Royal Mail Line

1854, Dec 8 Launched; ran in "River Mail Line, Toronto, Hamilton & Oswego-Montreal.

1855, Jul 28 Sank Lachine, Rapids, QUE after striking rock, ran ashore, Nun Island.

1856, Aug 4 300 tons; owned William Bowen et al; 173 5/10 x 24 6/10 x 9 3/10'; single mast, 294 tons.

1856 Chartered to Royal Mail Line, operated passenger & freight service from Montreal-head of Lake Ontario.

1857 Amalgamated into Through Line; owned M.V. Browne, Hamilton.

1859, Oct 8 Caught in storm near Kingston.

1860 Ran between Kingston, ONT & Quebec, QUE; owned Bowen & Co., Kingston.

1861 Owned Canadian Navigation Company.

1861, Sep 28 Fractured shaft but reached Kingston safely; repaired.

1863, Sep 01 Fractured shaft & damaged one of wheels.

1864, Aug 06 Collision with steamer EMPRESS off Point Traverse, Lake Ontario.

1866 Under charter to Canadian Navigation Co.

1867 Owned Canadian Navigation Co.(Royal Mail Line).

1874 Owned St. Lawrence Towing Co., Kingston, ONT; reduced to tug.

1875 Company reorganized, St. Lawrence Steam Navigation Co. Ltd., Quebec.

1876 Broken up.

1883, Jan 21 Registry officially closed.
